Berwick Community Trust is a Development Trust, a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee. The Trust works for the benefit of the Town and residents of Berwick Upon Tweed.

 

Our Mission

 

Berwick upon Tweed Community Development Trust is an independent community group working to champion or deliver the economic, social, environmental and cultural needs and aspirations of the people of Berwick, Tweedmouth, Ord, Spittal, and Scremerston.

 

What is a Development Trust?

 

There are currently over 350 Development Trusts in the UK.  Development Trusts are :

 

- established  by local communities to cultivate enterprise, build assets and secure community prosperity

 

- engaged in the economic, environmental and social regeneration of a defined area

 

- independent, self-sufficient or aiming self-sufficiency, and not for private profit

community based, owned and managed

 

- actively involved in partnerships and alliances between the community, voluntary, private and public sectors

- Belford

- Berwick-upon-Tweed

- East Ashington

- Glendale

- Greater Morpeth

- Holy Island of Lindisfarne

- Lynemouth
