Berwick Visitor Survey
Although Berwick has a range of industries and businesses
both within the town and on the Industrial Estates and Business Parks on the
outskirts, there can be little doubt that the pre-dominate industry is
tourism. It brings most people into the town,
gets more money spent in the shops, businesses and accommodation providers than
any other industry and helps to define the town's identity.
In 2009 Northumberland Tourism conducted a visitor survey of
eight market towns in the county including Berwick.
In
Berwick they interviewed (over the course of two weeks [one in March in low
season and one in August in high season]) at eight different locations
throughout the town 487 different visitors to the town which produced a very
accurate report of what visitors to the town actually think about Berwick. The Berwick specific report can be found by
clicking here.
As Northumberland tourism did studies of another seven
market towns a composite report comparing all eight towns to each other was
prepared and can be found by clicking here
